Papers [manuscript]. 1954-1977.

The entire collection is related to research done for the writing of a biography on the pioneer aviator Lawrence Hargrave. There is correspondence with the Smithsonian Institution in America (1966-1971), The Science Museum, (1965-1971), The Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences, Sydney (1965-1976), Clive Hart (1966-1975), W.G. McDonald (1965-1976) and others. There is also an annotated typescript draft of the biography (though this version was amended before publication), various short papers about Hargrave, records extracted from Hargrave's notebooks, plans, charts and illustrations. Material comprises a list of the main items in the four boxes of Lawrence Hargrave papers held at the National Library (MS 352) and four papers about Hargrave written by Shaw.

Qantas Airlines executive and aviation historian. Shaw was instrumental in securing the return to Australia in the 1960s of Hargrave's models from Germany and his journals and drawings from England.
